James Darrel Stevens, 71 of Wilford, died Thursday May 10, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Jimmy was born July 2, 1946 in San Jose, California to Nathan H. And Vonda Lee Landholm Stevens. As a young child they moved to Newdale, Idaho. In 1965, he graduated from Sugar Salem High School. He met and married Betty Whitmore in 1966. Together they had three children - Mike, Melanee and Mitch. He deployed to Vietnam, returning in 1969. They later divorced. He met Renee Birch and they married in 1984, adding five step-children to his family - Joni, Brad, Susan, Carri and Terri.

He drove truck and did carpentry work until joining the Union Pacific Railroad, as a rail worker, where he retired after 36 years.

Jimmy had many friends and enjoyed spending time with his family. He and Renee enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing, dancing and gambling. He took great pride in all he did. Jimmy was blessed with 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Renee, 8 children, Michael (Jodi) Stevens of Gillette, WY; Melanee (Ryan) Speth of St. Anthony, ID; Mitchel (Wendy) Stevens of St. Anthony, ID; Joni (Brad) Amen of Ashton, ID; Brad (Rhonda) Birch of Medford, OR; Susan (Steve) Welker of St. Anthony, ID; Carri (Don) Bakula of Oakley, UT; and Terri (Barry) Whitson of Idaho Falls, ID;

2 brothers, David and Billy Stevens; his 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and a grandson.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Wilford LDS Chapel (215 N. 2400 E.) The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 13, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary (581 E. 1st N., St. Anthony) and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery with military rites provided by the Madison County Veterans and the Idaho Honor Guard.
