With profound sorrow, the family of Harriet A. Moore, 89, of Lancaster, Pa. announces her death. She passed away at home surrounded by her family on December 4, 2010. She was the loving wife of the late New Era reporter, Jack B. Moore, who died in April 2000. Born in Hornell, NY, Harriet was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Gertrude (Leuze) Klees. She graduated in 1942 from Alfred University, Alfred, NY, where she was a member of the Theta Theta Chi sorority. She loved her family deeply, was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed. Surviving are three sons, Jeffrey C. Moore husband of Suzanne, Elma, NY; Timothy D. Moore husband of Carol, Jack E. Moore husband of Christina, both of Wernersville, PA; four daughters, Deborah F. Myatt, Lancaster, PA; Katherine G. Treier wife of Thomas, Leola, PA; Barbara I. Moore, Lancaster, PA; Susan J. Moore wife of Neil Merkowitz, Alfred Station, NY; eleven grandchildren; five great grandchildren. A son, Gregory H. Moore, predeceased her.
Service and interment are private and at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Harriet's memory to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Drive, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
