George A. Kinnick, 78, of Livingston, died at his home on Thursday morning, January 29, 2009, due to cancer. Cremation has taken place at Franzen Davis Crematory. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, corner of Third and Lewis streets, with Rev. David Gunderson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Franzen Davis Funeral Home in Livingston.

George A. Kinnick, was born on December 4, 1930 in Livingston, the son of William and Guadaloupe (Covarrubias) Kinnick. He spent his early years at Mill Creek, attending school there and working at the family sawmill. In 1947 he joined the United States Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged in 1951 after serving during the Korean Conflict. He returned to Montana and on April 25, 1954, he married Carolee Parker in Livingston. Together they raised a family of three girls while he worked as a machinist for the Northern Pacific and Burlington Northern Railroads. In 1986 they moved to Iowa with the railroad and retired on May 31, 1994, after 30 years of service.

George was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and served as a vestryman with the church. He also served as secretary/treasurer of the machinist's union, was a Livingston City Councilman and belonged to the Friday Night Dance Club. He enjoyed carpentry and built his own cabin on Smith Creek. He liked to work on cars and was meticulous about everything that he did.

Survivors include his wife, Carolee (Parker) Kinnick; three daughters and one son in law; four grandchildren; two sisters, Rachael Olson and Marge Chase along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Guadaloupe (Covarrubias) Kinnick; sister, Dorothy Adams; and six brothers, Mike, Bill, John, Tom, Ed and Fred Kinnick.
