Kitsap Sun (Bremerton, WA) - Friday, September 9, 2005

Robert Lee Lawing Sr., 85, of West Richland and formerly of Bremerton died Sept. 4 in Richland.

He was born in Oklahoma to James and Ida (Hunter) Lawing and attended Bremerton High School. He worked as a fireman inspector at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Bangor for 20 years until his retirement.

Mr. Lawing enjoyed salmon and trout fishing, hunting and mushroom gathering.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Grace and Viola; his son, Robert Jr.; his grandson, Gregory; and his sisters, Iva Mae and Irene Connor. Surviving are a daughter, Nina Lawing Creelman (John) of Hawaii; grandchildren, James, Carol, Tammy and Shaela; a nephew, David Lawing; a niece, Patricia Reddell; and close friends, Bobbie and Clint Ratliff and Annie and Butch Clare.

Robert Lee Lawing, of West Richland, died on Sept. 4, 2005, in Richland. He was 85.

He was born on Nov. 25, 1919, in Oklahoma and was married on Aug. 26, 2005.

He was a fireman inspector at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Subase Bangor. He enjoyed eagles, dolphins and cars.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Lawing of West Richland; daughter Nina, and step-children Stephen, of Spokane, and Susan, Linda and Michael of Port Orchard; and four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren.

A funeral was held, followed by burial at Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery, on Sept. 10.
