ABBOTT, Norman L. - 85, C.D.W. Clasp, Halifax, passed away peacefully in Arborstone Enhanced Care on April 16, 2007. He was born in Osborne Harbour, Shelburne Co., and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Norman served in active service in the Canadian Army during the Second World War attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. This was followed by 17 years of service with the local militia regiment, East Coast Signal Regiment, attaining the rank of W.O.I., and was awarded the C.D. long service medal. Following his military service he was employed by Investment Dealer and retired from Montreal Trust as department manager. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Louise. He is survived by sisters-in-law, Emma Margeson, Halifax; Marjorie Peddle, Toronto; special niece, Marilyn Margeson-Howels, Whitehorse, Yukon, and several cousins. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date in J.A. Snow Funeral Home Chapel, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax. Burial in St. John's Cemetery. No flowers by request, donations to a charity of choice.
