Bernice Bee' Brain November 16, 1919 - April 24, 2018 La Mesa Bee was born in Chicago to the late Nettie and George Hellmers. She is survived by her loving husband of 76 years, Earl Brain; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Brain; grandchildren, Jason Phelps (Lanna) & Karen Brain (Al); great-grandchildren, Wesley & Nolan Phelps; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her children, Raymond Brain & Marilyn Pierce; siblings George Hellmers (Marion) & LaVerne Smith (Stanley). Bee graduated from Calumet High School before marrying and moving to California in 1948 with her family. She worked in the real estate industry for Lyle Morton Realty, and proctored for California Western State Law School, and for various federal & state professional exams. She was an active member of the Fletcher Hills Presbyterian Church, and during her children's school years, she was active in the PTA and scouting programs. Bee was a beloved wife, mother, and friend. Family members and friends may attend the burial service on July 2, 2018, 1:00-1:30pm at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego 92122.
