Mary Ann Barrett, age 89, of Coopersville passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at her home with family at her side. She was born in Grand Rapids to the late John and Mildred (Castle) Ruthven. Mary was a sports fan and enjoyed watching and rooting for the Detroit Tigers and Lions and loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert A. Barrett in 1987.

Mary is survived by her children, Karen Cross, Dennis (Diane) Barrett, David (Jodi) Barrett, Karla (Gunner) Waldie and John Barrett; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild with another to arrive soon; sister, Shirley (John) Sapkowski; brothers, John Ruthven and Bill (Shirley) Ruthven; brother-in-laws, Wendell Behrens, and Carroll Farrell; many nieces and nephews. Mary was also preceded in death by 2 great-grandchildren; her sons-in-law, Dave Hillman and Don Cross; sisters, Helen Fiers, Martha Behrens, and Arlene Farrell; brother, Dan Ruthven; brothers-in-law, Dave Fiers and Pat Rust; sisters-in-law, Mary Ruthven and Dorothy Ruthven. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place with a private family service and interment in Coopersville-Polkton Twp. Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of N.
