Neal was born December 5, 1928 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI to Otto and Amelia (Elmer) Hamann. He married LaVera Oleson on August 15, 1953 in Nekoosa, WI. She preceded him in death on November 5, 2007. Neal was a paper technician for Consolidated Papers Inc. for 36 years retiring on December 30, 1990.
Neal served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from January 6, 1951 until October 8, 1952 earning a combat infantry badge during that time. He was a member of VFW Post #2534 of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
Neal is survived by son, Douglas (Ann) Hamann of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; two daughters, Toni Hamann of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and Marjorie (Frank Kohnen) Hamann of Rudolph, WI; three grandchildren, Jamie (Charles III) Sims, Carl (Sandy) Hamann and Spencer (Fiancé-Caitlin) Kohnen; two great grandchildren, Bethany and Charles IV; three step great grandchildren, Kayla, Nicholas and Nathan and one sister, Helen Schoenick of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
Neal was preceded in death by his parents, wife, LaVera; three sisters and two brothers.
