Ralph V. Gowen, 86, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Eastern Maine Medical Center. He was born January 21, 1930 in Bucksport, the son of Fred L. and Beatrice M. (Winchester) Gowen.
He served in the Army from 1953 - 1955 before marrying his beloved wife, Irene LaFlamme Gowen in August 1965. He lived in Westbrook for many years while working at Portland Copper and Southworth Machine before he and Irene moved to Bucksport. Ralph was known for his resourcefulness and his willingness to help others. He was kind-natured, fun, and loved to tease. One of his greatest pleasures was making his family laugh.
Ralph is survived by his step-daughter Linda McLaughlin-Dubois of Dixfield; his grandson Sean Dubois and his wife Abby of St. Albans, VT; his brothers Floyd Gowen and his wife Shirley of Bucksport, Guy Gowen of Buxton; his sister, Edith Tate of Holden; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Irene, two sisters Marion and Lilian, and a brother Walter.
Graveside services will be held at the Megquier Hill Cemetery in West Poland on September 3, 2016 at 2 p.m. To plant a tree in memory of Ralph Gowen, please visit Tribute Store.
