Vernon Lee Hurley, 75, of St. Simons Island, Georgia, passed May 17, 2018 in Carillion Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, VA.
He was born August 14, 1942 in Rockview, Wyoming County, WV to Goldie Short-Hurley-Rose of Beckley, WV, and the late Nehemiah "Myre" Hurley (1918-1994). Vernon was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his four children, Donna Ann Allen-Duty-Hurley (1946-2004) whom he married on April 27, 1968 in Jesse, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1968, Page 440, Application Date: April 22, 1968).
He is survived by his loving wife Anne Bleakley-Jones-Hurley whom he married on February 7, 2018, and her son Freddie Bruce Jones; his children, Paul "Keith" Duty and sons Paul Duty and Logan Duty; daughter Carol Lynn Hurley-Privett & husband Terry Privett; son, Christopher Lee Hurley & wife Amanda Lynn Hurley & their children Elyn Hurley and Liam Hurley, who were the sunshine of his life; and son, Jeremy Vernon Hurley; his sister, Patricia "Carrol" Hurley-Ullrich & husband Karl Ullrich; and brother, Stephen Randall Hurley and wife Linda Pannel-Hurley.
A memorial service will be held 5:00 PM Monday, May 21, 2018 at Rockcastle Baptist Church, Rockview, WV. There will be a later memorial service at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church in GA, after which his ashes will be interred in Christ Church Frederica, St. Simons Island, GA.
