January 27, 1926 - November 8, 2016
Maria T. "Chicky" Ashe, 90, of Clearwater passed away peacefully on November 8, 2016. She was born on January 27, 1926 in Springfield, Massachusetts to Frank and Katherine (D'Amato) LaRagione. Chicky and Thomas, her husband of 68 years, lived on St. Lawrence Avenue where they raised their family. She and Tom moved to Florida in 1981. As a military wife, she was a great support to her husband and always fondly recalled her time in Goose Bay, Labrador.
Besides feeding her family and friends, one of her greatest joys was sending greeting cards for birthdays, anniversaries, and any occasion, to everyone she had ever befriended. Her unwavering positivity and sharp memory will be remembered and appreciated by her many friends.
In addition to her parents, Chicky was predeceased by her sister, Anna Borrelli, and her brothers Albert and Ernest LaRagione.
She is survived by her loving family: husband Thomas J. Ashe, sons Thomas and Stephen (Peg Korte) of Chicopee, MA, daughters Anne (Carl) Clement of Havre de Grace, MD, and Eileen (Raymond) O'Connor of Stuart, FL. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren—"the troops": Christina (Jason) Clement, McKenzie (Matt) Landgraf, Rachel Clement, Timothy (Kimberly) O'Connor, Shaun O'Connor, Kaitlin Ashe, Griffin Ashe, and Colin Ashe. She was also blessed with three great grandchildren: Sam, Maggie and Ainsley.
She was a devout member of St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church in Clearwater, where a Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, November 17, 2016. Interment and a celebration of her life will be held in Massachusetts in the spring.
