Betty Lou (nee Chapman) Spear, of Plano, Texas, passed away on Tuesday April 30, 2013. Betty was born in San Antonio, Texas on August 12, 1930 and was a resident for over 70 years. She is survived by her brothers: Jesse Chapman (Nita) and George Chapman of San Antonio; daughter: Sherri Garza (Bob) of Plano, Texas; and son: Kenneth Spear (Mary Ruth) of San Antonio. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and other family members. Betty is preceded in death by her parents: Augustus "Gus" and Sarah Ruth (nee Price) Chapman; sister: Dorothy Halliday; and her husband: Roger Spear. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Friday May 10, 2013 at Crestview Baptist Church in San Antonio. Pastor Marshall Moore will be officiating. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Aria Cremation Services in Plano. The family of Betty Spear wishes to thank Collin Oaks Assisted Living and Grace Hospice caregivers for the special care they gave her. Arrangements are under the direction of ARIA Cremation Service and Funeral Home.
