Joseph "Joe" Dallas Yokley, age 97 of Winchester, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Elk River Health and Rehabilitation. A native of Franklin County, he was born in Decherd on May 1, 1922 to the late William J. and Martha E. (Lappin) Yokley. Joe served in the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II. He had worked as a foreman at Great Lakes School Company in Chicago, Illinois before retiring from Wilton in Winchester. Joe was instrumental in starting the Franklin County Democratic Party and served as the group's chairman for fifteen years. He was a devoted member of Cowan First Baptist Church and had helped in the construction of the new facility. His family and friends will remember him for his strong faith and wonderful personality. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Ventress Yokley; son, Anthony Yokley; brothers, William Yokley and Herman Yokley; sisters, Evelyn Taylor, and Pauline Copeland; and one grandchild. He is survived by his daughters, Carolyn (Walt) VanHolzen of Wisconsin, and Patricia (Jack) Green of California; step-daughter, Kay (Gail) Fulmer of Florida; step-son, Ray Collins of Winchester; five grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Rev.
