Salvatore A. Bosco Jr., 93 of Woodbury, formerly of Middlebury and Naugatuck, entered into the gates of heaven on Wednesday evening, May 23, 2018 at Masonicare of Newtown with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Theda (Niestemski) Bosco.
Sal was born in Waterbury, CT on October 15, 1924, son of the late Salvatore A. Bosco Sr. and Giovina (Colangelo) Bosco. After graduating from Levenworth High School, Class of 1942, Sal proudly served his country by joining the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War, serving aboard a Landing Craft Infantry. He later opened up his own business of Bosco’s North End Glass Co.which he owned and operated for over 50 years. He was also the past President of the Connecticut Glass Dealers Association and Treasurer of the National Glass Association. He received the Glass Digest National Glass Dealer of the Year Award in 1976. Sal was a wise and generous man who was always available to his friends and family to listen and advise. His motto was that there is so much more pleasure in giving than receiving.

Some of his past services include; Grand Knight of the Father Loftus Council 3992 of the Knights of Columbus of Middlebury during the early 1960’s, President of the Waterbury Historic Preservation Group, Waterbury Action to Conserve our Heritage (W.A.T.C.H.) during the years of Waterbury Urban Renewal, and past member of the Watertown Golf Club and proud of his Hole in One scored there.

Besides his wife Theda “Sweetee”, Sal leaves behind to cherish his memory his two children; Florence Justino and her husband Joseph of Woodbury and Curtis Bosco and his wife Sharon of Middlebury. He also leaves behind his four grandchildren; Mark A. Douty and his wife Alexandra of Waterbury, Matthew B. Douty Sr. and his wife Monique of Bristol, Traci L. Dugdale and her husband Dustin of Wasilla, AL, Madeline Bosco of Middlebury, and his four great grandchildren; Matthew Jr., Emma, Megan, Zachary Douty as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his five brothers; Adam P., Anthony D., Leonard L., Peter C. and Phillip R. Bosco.

Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, 11 a.m. at St. John of the Cross Church in Middlebury. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Lake Elise Cemetery in Middlebury. Calling hours will be held Tuesday morning from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial, The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury.
