Edward was the son of William Mortimer Harrison and Caroline Rivers Lambert Harrison. His first wife was Anna. They had three children. After her passing he was wed to Susan Ruffin. There were no children from his second marriage. His brother, William Lambert Harrison, participated in the Battle of New Market, one of the valiant Virginia Military Institute Cadets that turned back the Yankees in the Valley. William farmed the magnificent Westover Plantation after the war.
