Aaron J. Atkinson, 80, died very suddenly last night at 11 o'clock at his home, 269 East Villa street. He was in his usual health when he retired at 9 o'clock, according to his wife, Mrs. Emma Atkinson. At a few minutes before 11 o'clock he asked for a drink of water. Mrs. Atkinson brought him a glass of water, and shortly after drinking it he dropped back on the pillow dead.
He had been subject to paralytic strokes for several years, and it is believed that one of these sudden strokes caused his death.
He had been a member of the Methodist church for 50 years, 20 years of that time being a member of the First Methodist church of Pasadena. He and his wife came to Pasadena from Wisconsin in 1904. He was born in England.
He is survived by the widow, Emma Atkinson; one son, Frank Atkinson of Mitchell, S. D.; also three brothers and one sister, William Atkinson, Walter Atkinson, Wallace Atkinson and Mrs. Evalett Bailey, all of Stoughton, Wis.
As soon as Frank Atkinson arrives in Pasadena from Mitchell, the funeral arrangements will be completed by Turner and Stevens company.
