It is with great sadness that we announce, May 7, 2018, the passing of our cat, Tyker.

Jaw cancer, she was 11.

What a GREAT 11 years it was. She was a jumper and climber. Despite how I would tinker with the fortress-like back yard I had built, to allow our cats to experience an outdoor backyard; allowed to roam around, while protected from the outside world, she would continually checkmate me.

She was a determined huntress, constantly stalking, and often enough, catching birds, mice and lizards that were a step slow, to moms chagrin. She even caught a lizard and bird during her last week!

She lived all 9 lives, from the close call we had with her resting near my cars engine, to the time we lost her for 7 days, to be found just in time by our genius neighbor.

We SO loved the last few days with her. Watching her do what she loved best; being in our backyard in nature watching birds, as well as stroking her with her favorite brush.

She was my constant companion, in my lap while I sat in my chair, or sleeping right next to me at night.

Life goes on, but she was my true love, and will ALWAYS be in my heart!

P.S. from Andy. Jeff and Tyker were connected at the hip. I don't know if it is because she looked like Smokey or what? We are taking her passing very hard and it is very difficult to go into our backyard because we see Tyker everywhere, as she adored being outdoors and in the garage (which is sealed off for now.) We had a vet come to the house yesterday to put her down. There was no other way to do it as she was still cognizant and the meowing in a hot car for the dreaded trip to the vet would have been agonizing torture for all involved. Jaw cancer is brutal and fast paced. Tyker was hiding multiple times and sadly we knew "it was time." When we first got Tyker as a kitten at the pound, she had extreme respiratory distress and was in a hospital for a week and was nursed for two weeks in my bedroom on heavy antibiotics. So she used up her "first life" within the first month.
Enclosed is a video of Tyker catching a lizard. The lizard lived because Jeff pulled it out of Tyker's mouth and placed it over the fence so that Tyker couldn't catch it again.
