Dewitt Herman Monk, 75, of Port Acres went to be with the Lord Wednesday with his family by his side at their residence in LaBelle.
Born to the late James and Eathel Monk, he lived most of his life in Port Acres. He retired from Jefferson Chemical in Port Neches, and was employed several years with Parker Lumber in Port Arthur and Woodville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife,of thirty years, Betty Jo Monk; three brothers, James, J.D., and Elmer Monk; and three sisters, Daisy, Chrystal, and Thelma Monk.
He was survived by his wife, Katherine Berryhill Monk; two sons, Dewitt "Butch" Monk, Jr. and wife Carla and Steve R. Monk and wife Troy Lynette; two daughters, Debbie Daigle and Christi Davalos; seven step-children, John Berryhill, Kenneth Berryhill, Bennie Berryhill, Alice Maresh, Bonnie Morris, Joseph Berryhill and Renee Thrillkill; two brothers, Donald Monk and Dennis Monk; sister, Jessie "Bea" Hahn; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
