Gertrude Belle Heaton, 95, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at Morningside Center Nursing Home, Chillicothe. Burial will be at Wheeling Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Baptist Children's Home. Gertrude was born Oct. 16, 1904, in rural Chillicothe, daughter of John Henry and Rebecca (Dunkle) Wilson. She married Harlan G. Heaton, Oct. 28, 1922, in Meadville MO. He preceded her in death Aug. 23, 1969. She was employed with Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, as a nurse for 10 years and then transferred to Pershing Memorial Hospital, Brookfield. Following her retirement, she went to special out-care for Stevenson Brothers of Wheeling and was there until she retired again after 18 years at the age of 84. She was a lifelong resident of Livingston County and a member of Wheeling Baptist Church and Royal Neighbors of America. Survivors include one daughter, one sister, Pauline Wagoner, Hillsboro, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sons: Arden R., George W., and John H. Heaton; five brothers: Ward, Nathan, Henry, Chester and Hubert Wilson; and four sisters: Ethel Dawkins, Nellie Schuetz, Leonda McCracken, and one infant, Yavone Wilson.
