Obituary: Rulon B. Burningham
"Excellence with a Touch of Class"
Rulon passed away September 5, 2003.
He was born Feb 25, 1925 in Kaysville, UT to Clyde and Donnetta Burningham. He attended Davis High School and served in World War II as a medic in the South Pacific.

He attended the University of Utah and graduated, 1950, with a major in Elementary/Secondary Education. He continued his education at Utah State University, UCLA, and received his master's degree in Education Administration from the University of Utah in 1963. He taught school 16 years at Jefferson, Wasatch, and Garfield Elementary Schools. He was principal, 22 years, of Bonneville and Ensign Elementary Schools.

Rulon met his wife, Mary-Lynn Fairbanks, at the University of Utah where they were both officers of Lamda-Delta-Sigma. They were married Aug 9, 1950 and recently celebrated their 53rd anniversary.

In 1953, with several partners, he started Hylon-Koburn Chemicals (Hy-Ko) and served 50 years as secretary/treasurer.

He was active in the LDS Church and held many positions in the church including stake presidency, bishopric, and the high council. He honored his priesthood which he used to bless his family. He had a firm, unwavering testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

His wife, children and grandchildren were the joy of his life. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved his friends, was a good listener, and had inherent wisdom which touched many lives.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Mary-Lynn; children, Karen (David) Jackson, Kent (Lisa) Burningham, Paul (Becky) Burningham, Kris (Michael) Swenson; grandchildren, Jeff (Marissa), Scott (Laura), Marc (Brooke) Jackson, Brandon, Lauren, Easton Burningham, Katie, Dane, Ry-lee, Dallin Burningham, Bradley, Rob-bie, Eric, Sarah Swenson; great-granddaughters, Ashlyn, Jocelyn Jack-son; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister, and two brothers.

Services Tues. Sept 9, 2003, 12 noon Mt Olympus LDS Stake Center, 3862 E. Oak View Dr, Salt Lake City. Viewing Mon. Sept 8, 6-8 p.m. Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 E. 1300 S, Salt Lake and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment, Wasatch Lawn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund.
