Mr. Barbour died 8 July 1976 in South Sunflower County Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Barbour was engaged in farming and the insurance business in Indianola, were he lived for 51 years. He attended the universities of Mississippi, Virginia and Alabama and Virginia Military Institute.
During World War II, Mr. Barbour served as field director for the American Red Cross. He was past president of the Indianola Rotary Club, served a term on the Mississippi Insurance Commission and was a deacon in the Indianola Presbyterian Church. Mr. Barbour served three terms on the board of aldermen in Indianola.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Clara Godbold Barbour of Indianola; a daughter, Mrs. Patrick Fenlon of Thomasville, Ga.; two sons, William Godbold Barbour of Los Angeles, Calif., and Austin Fowlkes Barbour of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. William Stone of Yahoo City ; and nine grandchildren.
