He is survived by his wife of 68 years (Betty), brother (Melvin), two sons (John and Allen), three grandsons and five great-grandchildren.
He and Betty moved in 1974 to Klamath Falls, where Alfred worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad. He was an avid long-distance runner and competed in many races throughout Oregon and Northern California, winning first place in his division many times.
