Richard "Smitty" Smith, age 80 years, of Lambertville, MI, died Sunday, July 23, 2006, in Lake Park, Sylvania, Ohio. born March 30, 1926, in Riga, Mi. he was the son of Harris and Luella (Janney) Smith. A US Navy veteran of WWII, he married Betty Oswald on February 2, 1952 in Temperance, MI. Richard was a mail carrier for the Ottawa Lake Post Office for 34 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our savior in Toledo and the Barbershop Chorus, Monroe Chapter. Richard also played semi-pro baseball in the 1950's.
Surviving are his loving wife, Betty; children, Sandy (Don) Wintersteen and James Smith both of Lambertville, MI; brother, Clarence Smith of Phoenix, AZ and grandchildren, Ryan and Matthew Wintersteen.
