Aylee Linville, who is believed to have been the daughter of John Linville and Ann Hendricks Linville, married Joseph Bryan circa 1740 at Linville Creek, Frederick County, Virginia, where Joseph purchased land from Aylee's brother William Linville 20 August 1746. Joseph and Aylee remained at Linville Creek until 1755. Ultimately they moved to Floyd's Fork, Shelby (or Jefferson) County, Kentucky. Among Joseph's children by his first wife, Hester Simpson Hampton, were Rebecca Bryan, the wife of Daniel Boone, and Martha Bryan, the wife of Daniel's brother Edward "Neddie" Boone. Aylee was stepmother to Rebecca and Martha. She was mother to Mary, Charity, and Elenor. In 1756 when Rebecca married Daniel Boone, Aylee became his mother-in-law.
