Obituary from the "Elkton Record" references that Peter came into area from Larchwood, Iowa May 1885. (Larchwood is where his son James Madison was living.) Funeral services conducted at his son-in-law H. P. Crossman's residence. Remains “buried in the village cemetery.” A reference from “The Estelline Bell” Estelline Dakota Territory referenced the Elkton Record that “P.S. died there” on July 28th. He was father of Mrs. H Page who was “quite well known here, and also of P.B. Blue who will be remembered by those living in Estelline two years ago. At the time of his death he was in partnership in business with Mr. Page of Elkton.”

The Mrs. H. Page is an erroneous reference to Mrs. Harland P. Crossman, whose husband was known as "Hannah Page" Crossman.
