Talmadge Stoddard, 59, of 449 Twenty-seventh, retired Ogden city fire department electrician, died at seven a.m.
Monday near Montello, Nev., when struck by a fast moving train. He was killed instantly. No further details were
available. Mr. Stoddard was born July 12, 1890 in Kearney, Neb., a son of George and Emma Stoddard. Following the
death of his first wife, Lillian England of Plain City, he married Lorraine Dillree, May 17, 1926 in Farmington. Joins Fire
Department He joined the Ogden city fire department Oct. 1, 1923 and was retired Aug. 16, 1945 as an electrician. For
the past four years he had been employed as a relief signal block maintenance man for the Southern Pacific Railroad
Co. He was a member of the Presbyterian church and Weber lodge No. 6, F. and A.M. Survivors Listed Surviving are
his widow of Ogden and the following sons and daughters, George D. Stoddard, Lakehurst, N.J., by his first wife; Dee
Stoddard, Ogden, Mrs. Willard E. (Lorraine) Smith and Mrs. William (Doris) Drysdale, Ogden and the following step-sons
and step-daughters: Willard Dillree, Echo; Austin Dillree, Ovando, Mont.; Lloyd, Don and Dale Stoddard, and Mrs. James
(Wava) Graves, Ogden; Mrs. Joe E. (Faye) Secili, Oakland, Calif; four grandchildren, his father of Roseville, Calif., and
the following brothers and sisters; William Stoddard, Mrs. Laura Cherrill, Roseville, Calif.; and Mrs. Harold Franklin,
Portland, Ore. The body will arrive Wednesday at the mortuary, 3408 Washington.
