Water Valley, MS-Harrell Newton Byrd, 93, passed this earthly life Friday, June 1, 2018 at Baptist Calhoun Health Service Hospital surrounded by his love ones. He was born July 5, 1924 to the late parents of David Q. Byrd and Maude May Byrd. Harold was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. He was a charter member of Brandon Baptist Church in Brandon and a longtime member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church, Jackson and presently a member of Bruce First Baptist Church. He worked as a church organ technician before his retirement. Harold had an appreciation for music and its instruments as it brought glory to our Lord and Savior.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Dr. David Q. Byrd, Jr., Jimmy Byrd, Edith Byrd Emmitt and Billy Byrd.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Bryant Byrd, Water Valley; nieces Ann Emmitt Brian, Susan Byrd McDougal, Becky Byrd and Beth Byrd Bailey; nephews: James Byrd, Donald Byrd, Tim Byrd and George Emmitt.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 1:30 P.M. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Daniel Hathorne, Dr. Billy Thomas and Dr. Gary Roberson officiating. Burial will be in Memory Memorial Garden. Visitation will be from 12:00P.M. until service time on Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Jim Byrd, Donald Byrd, Tim Byrd, Tom Brian, Roy McDowell, John Benton Long , Josh Long and Trent Long.
