Loving father of Kathryn Akers, James Jr. (Donna) Akers, Susan (John) Blattel and William (Janine) Akers. Proud grandfather of Christopher, Amanda, Mary Beth, Andrew, Sarah, Nicholas, Olivia, Elizabeth and Addilyn. Brother of Margie (the late William) Vines and brother-in-law of the late Frank (Patricia) Johnson and Kathryn (George) Firlit. Our dear uncle, great uncle and friend to many. Jim was born in Bonne Terre, MO to Alonzo and Beulah Akers and was a chemist at Shell Oil refinery for 40 years before retiring in 1991. Thanks to the staff at Mari De Villa for their excellent care. Services: Funeral Monday, May 2, 9:30am from BUCHHOLZ Mortuary West, 2211 Clarkson Road to St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church for a 10am Mass. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Fisher House or Parkinson's Disease Foundation appreciated. Online guestbook at www.buchholzmortuary.com. VISITATION SUN, 3-7PM.
