Mrs. Joyce M. Hathaway, 72, of 713 Woodland Drive, Elizabethton, died Friday, February 23, 2007 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Hathaway was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Howard and Mary Porter West Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney B. Hathaway and an infant son, Sidney B. Hathaway, Jr. Mrs. Hathaway was a wonderful wife, mother, Nana and friend to all. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a daughter, Susan Hathaway, of Elizabethton; one granddaughter and her husband, Amanda and Greg Barnett, of Johnson City; one grandson, Christopher Dunbar, of Elizabethton; special cousins, Karen Dykes, Jeff and Valarie Dykes, David Dykes, Garrett and Vanessa Dykes, all of Johnson City, Judy Kramer, Colonial Heights, VA, Sarah Quezada, Richmond, VA and two very special friends, Grace Fleenor, Bristol, TN and Joanne Blair, of Elizabethton. Funeral service for Mrs. Joyce M. Hathaway will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, February 25, 2007 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. John Shuck officiating. Music will be by Mr. David Arney, organist. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Monday, February 26, 2007 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Harrison Taylor officiating. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Dykes, David Dykes, Garrett Dykes, Deacon Bowers, Greg Barnett, Billy Hale and Bill Hedges. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Bowers, Don Blair, Dale Fleenor, Willie Church, Larry Alderson, Dave Rider, Jim Perkins, Earl Grindstaff and Mike Hodge.
