Evelyn A. Peterson, 89, Minot, formerly of Carpio, died Monday, January 19, 2004, in a Minot nursing home.
Evelyn was born May 20, 1914, on the family farm, near Carpio, ND, the daughter of Charlie and Eva (Bowen) Lade. She attended rural school in Ward County, ND.
On August 12, 1933 she married Nels Peterson in Minot, ND. They lived and farmed near Carpio, in Plain Township, Renville County and in Carpio Township, Ward County, until 1963. In 1970 they moved to Minot. While in Minot, Evelyn worked at Trinity Nursing Home, and she also did home health care. Nels died May 24, 1991. Evelyn continued to live in Minot.
Evelyn was a member of Carpio Lutheran Church, Carpio, ND. She was a former member of the Moose Lodge, and she loved dancing.
Survivors: Daughters, Lois (Bill) Thurmer, Aitkin, MN, and Linda K. Johnson, Minot; son, Gaylen Dennis (Darline) Peterson, Minot; daughter-in-law, Nancy Peterson, Garrison; 14 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; sisters, Ida Johnson, Blaine, WA, and Martha Axness, Minot; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Nels; son, Robert Peterson; brothers, Carl, Albert, Elmer and Harvey Lade, and sister, Daisy Hoelcher.
Funeral: Thursday, January 22, 2004, at 2:00 p.m., at Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot, ND.
Burial: Nazareth Lutheran Cemetery, rural Carpio, ND, in the spring.
