Ray was born in Wenatchee, Wash., on Jan. 27, 1934. He was adopted at age 5 by Harry and Catherine Yager and moved to Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, where he attended school until proudly joining the United States Navy.
He met the love of his life Kathryn McAlister in March 1955. After a brief courtship, they began their lives together on May 27, 1955. They have two daughters, Susan Rae Otis of Fresno, Calif., and Sharon Kay Falvey of Beaverton, Ore. Ray also leaves six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, whom he loved deeply. In addition, Ray is survived by 11 brothers and sisters with whom he shared many great memories. He was also especially close to his brother-in-law, Harold D. McAlister, who looked to Ray since the time he was a young teenager.
Ray had many talents and his jobs ranged from police officer to real estate, auto repair and oilfield work, where he excelled in sales. He had many passions, including flying, camping, car racing and his love of the great outdoors, where every river and lake offered the opportunity to fish and watch for bald eagles.
He was a carpenter and loved to build things out of wood. His creativity resulted in countless gifts that he made and shared with loved ones.
There will be a celebration of his life at his beloved Williamson River Fellowship in Chiloquin, Ore. Date and time are pending and will be provided at www.ANewTradition.com.
Ray's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff at Raleigh Hills Assisted Living facility in Portland, Ore., and Hospice Care of the Northwest.
In lieu of flowers, your donations to the SPCA of Klamath Falls would be greatly appreciated.
