Dr. J.A. Maggard, of this city was summoned to Oxford last Tuesday on account of the death of the wife of his brother, Dr. I.J. Maggard, which occurred on that date. Mrs. Maggard had been in California for several months for the benefit of her health. Recently realizing that she could not live long she expressed a desire to return home that she might be among her friends. She reached Oxford last Saturday and on Tuesday, yielded to the fell destroyer, consumption. The funeral occurred on Wednesday.
