Two Rivers - John H. Thomas, age 69, a Two Rivers resident, died Friday, June 1, 2018 at his residence with his family by his side.

He was born on April 16th, 1949, son of the late Ray and Ione (Anchor) Thomas. John was a graduate of Two Rivers Washington High School with the class of 1967. He served in the US Navy from 1967 until 1970. In 1970 John married the former Carol Derenne at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Two Rivers. He was employed as a baker at Pick n Save in Two Rivers and with Festival Foods in Manitowoc. John was a very creative man. He enjoyed tending to his bonsai trees, gardening and creating stained glass artwork, which he shared with friends and family. He also enjoyed scuba diving and roller blading. John was passionate about volunteering at the Washington House in Two Rivers and assisted in managing the facility.

Survivors include his wife: Carol Thomas, Two Rivers; two children: Shawn and Tess Thomas, Hobart, Allison and Jason Dozark, Mequon; two grandchildren: Ben and Mya Thomas; one sister and brother-in-law: Ronda (Mike) Stanzel, Two Rivers; one brother: Robert Thomas, Shawano; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Jerry (Cindy) Derenne, David (Cindy) Derenne, Patty (Tony) Niemojuski and Mike (Nancy) Derenne. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Ray and Ione Thomas and his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Alvin and Janet Derenne.

John advocated and educated for Esophageal Cancer awareness following his diagnosis. His final wish was to have his body donated for research. Cremation will occur when the research is completed.

John's family would like to thank the wonderful people who work at Aurora Hospice Care for taking care of them throughout John's journey.

A Life Celebration Social will be held in honor of John from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Monday, June 11, 2018, at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Streets, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Military honors will be accorded at the conclusion.
