Jerry Benton MINT HILL - Mr. Jerry Lynden Benton, of Mint Hill, North Carolina, born on December 27, 1933 in Mecklenburg, North Carolina, to the late Emma C Benton and the late John Z Benton, passed away at age 84 on March 28, 2018. He graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in 1952. Jerry served in the Air Force and he also worked in the Communications industry as a linesman at Bell South until he retired in 1983. Jerry was the loving husband of Faye Keziah (Allen) Benton. He was preceded in death by his special dog, Kahlua. Jerry is survived by his daughters, Megan Benton and Cynthia White; stepson, David Allen (Lisa); stepdaughter, Sharon Anderson (Kevin); brothers, Ray Benton and Calvin Benton; sister, Carolyn Hartis; grandchildren, Brittany Marlin (Johnathan), Carmen Heffner, and Brandon Heffner (Melanie), step grandchildren, Carson Kane, Spencer Kane, Natasha Anderson and Josuha Anderson and great-grandchildren, Aiden Heffner and Braydon Anderson. Donations in Jerry's name to Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region 1420 East Seventh Street Charlotte, NC 28204 are welcome and appreciated. Special Thanks to John Mauldin for being such a wonderful neighbor and friend through out the years. And also special Thanks to Bryan Clapton who has become like a part of the family, being their for Jerry and Faye. Friends and family members may attend the visitation on Wednesday, April 4 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Matthews, following the visitation, there will be a memorial service officiated by Ron Gregory at11:00a.m. at First Baptist Church, 185 South Trade Street, Matthews, North Carolina, 28105.
