Algernon G. Bratrud was born May 19, 1915, in Bennington Township, Mower County. He attended Waldorf College, Forest City, Iowa. In January 1952 he married Frances Kunz and they were later divorced. Bud owned and operated a farm near Ostrander, Minnesota until 1968. After moving to Rochester, he worked as an electrician until he retired in 1977.
He is survived by four daughters, Shirley Bratrud and Susan Tesmer of Rochester, Minn, Sharon (John) Braddock of Zumbro Falls, Minn, and Mary (Dennis) Richardson of Kasson, Minn; two sons, Donald Alan (Bratrud) of Everett, Wash, and Stephen Bratrud of Bolivia; 14 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Georgia (Rendahl) Bratrud; his son, Kenneth Bratrud; his brothers Emil Bratrud and Milton Bratrud; and his sisters, Esther Bratrud, Ruth Henriksen, and Olivia Pinkerton.
Friends and family will gather for a funeral service for Bud Bratrud, Sunday, August 23, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at Macken Funeral Home, with Pastor Dale DePeel officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will take place on Monday August 24, 2009, at 11:00 am in Bennington Cemetery in Mower County.
