Joseph Gosnell Huddleston, age 84, of Mattoon passed away at 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at his residence.

Funeral services honoring his life will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Schilling Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Duey officiating, assisted by Reverend Jim Maroon. Burial will follow at Hays Cemetery, Hidalgo. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the funeral home.

Joe was born on October 15, 1933 in Rose Hill, IL the son of Lloyd and Margaret (Gosnell) Huddleston. He married Pat Sowers on June 1, 1953. She preceded him in death on June 11, 2016.

Survivors include his children, Jeff Huddleston, Jan (Jim) Osborn and Jon Huddleston all of Mattoon, IL; grandchildren, Shad (Laura) Huddleston, Zach Huddleston, Jesse (Amanda) Osborn, Tiffany (Joe) DeLong, Karissa (Ted) Agee, Kali (Derrick) Mainer, Jonda (Dennis) Sebring and Jolie Osborn; great-grandchildren, Maia and Nate Huddleston, Hayla Huddleston, Eli and Braden DeLong, Atalie and Joah Osborn, Lyncoln Agee, Jaelyn, Trevor and Jacie Sebring, Hali, Carter, and Leighna Mainer; and sister, Joyce (Don) May of Newton, IL. In addition to his wife, Joe was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jill Brosam; and brother, Jack Huddleston.

Joe served honorably in the United States Army. He retired from the United Parcel Service after 25 years as District Maintenance Manager. Joe was a member of the Moose, Legion and Eagles. He was an avid golfer and his favorite course was Rogala. In previous years, he owned Thoroughbred race horses. Joe and his wife Pat enjoyed spending winters in Dunedin, Florida. Most of all, Joe cherished his family. He will be greatly missed, but fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved him.

Memorial donations in his honor are suggested to the Macular Society or the American Cancer Society.
