Bertha Sims, 82, a longtime resident of Alvarado, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016. She was born in Waxahachie on October 9, 1933 to Dewey and Eva Cockerham. Bertha was a faithful member of the Alvarado Baptist Temple. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Sims Sr.; 1 sister and 2 brothers. Those left to cherish her memories, 2 sons, Carl Sims Jr. and Andrea, William Sims and Becky; 3 daughters, Jackie Harden, Margie Vassar and Mike, Kathy Janes; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 4 sisters and 1 brother. A Memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, at the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Alvarado.
