After his formal schooling, he began working at various jobs: Gladney Ford in Elsberry as a mechanic, Ray Price Ford in Troy, Champ Goodwood Farms of Elsberry and also Mueller Brothers Timber Inc. in Old Monroe and most recently for MFA in Elsberry. As you can see, he was a very energetic and hard-working man. Dick married his sweetheart, Virginia O. Creech on March 1951 in Piggott, Arkansas. To this union were born five children: Judy, Tony, Richard, George and Suzann. Dick appreciated his loving wife, children, siblings and grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife: Virginia Clarkson of Elsberry; his five children: Judy Douma of Marble Hill, Tony Clarkson and wife Sally of Old Monroe, Richard Clarkson and wife Carol of Elsberry, George Clarkson and wife Cecilia of Kempner, TX and Suzann Clarkson of Elsberry; his sister: Edith Williamson of Farmersville, Il and brother, James "Duke" Bufford and wife Bonnie of Elsberry. He is further survived by his seven loving grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Charles Bufford Jr. The Clarkson family was served by the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 1304 Boone St.,Troy,MO 63379.
