Fluffy and I first made acquaintences a few weeks before Memorial Day in 1998. She was still a kitten herself, and very pregnant, living on the streets. Her pictures do not do her justice. She was a long-haired, part-Siamese (beige) with blue eyes.
We took her in and in a few weeks time, she gave birth to three little boys - one black and white short-haired (Bear), a short-haired light grey male (Smokey) and a long-haired orange male (whom a friend adopted and she named him William). We kept Bear and Smokey.
They say animals forget their young. Smokey and Bear were close to their mom until she passed away. They cuddled with her and she still let them nurse (even though they were all altered), and she groomed them regularly.
At the end of March 2007, she stopped eating. I noticed a foul odor from her mouth and just assumed she was having a tooth problem. Not being sure, I called the vet. She had developed cancer of the mouth which had quickly spread to her throat. For her sake, we had her euthanized.
We will miss her. Such a good pet and such a good mommy cat.
