Barbara Ann Derr, 74, 2344 Second St., Bloomsburg (Espy), died at her home at 4:31 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, after an illness.

Born in Bloomsburg on Dec. 16, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Jr. and Sarah (Gray) Derr. She spent her entire life in the Bloomsburg area.

Barbara was employed as a caregiver much of her life, retiring in 2014. She had been a bus driver for the Southern Columbia School District and had also been employed as a receptionist at the former Glen Edwards Photography Studio, Bloomsburg.

A member of Valley of Bloomsburg Post 273, American Legion, Ladies Auxiliary, she also belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of Catawissa Post 8306, VFW and served the group as chaplain for several years. She also was a member of the Washies Fire Company, Danville, and the Southside Fire Company in Riverside.

Barbara enjoyed fishing, camping, the outdoors, and especially her family. Her hobbies were crafting and photography. She also was a lover of all types of animals.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Ralph Derr on Aug. 6, 2009, Paul Derr on Oct. 10, 2005, and Jerry Lee Derr on Oct. 4, 2012.

Surviving are four children: Donnette L. Whitenight, Diane L. Whitenight, Dennis L. Whitenight, all of Bloomsburg, Dorree L., wife of Henry L. Moyer III, Berwick; six grandchildren: Shane Temple, Amanda Hopper, Jason Whitenight, Corey Whitenight, Twyla Shaffer, and Tanya Stout; nine great-grandchildren; and her companion of many years, Dale McHenry, Bloomsburg. She was the last of her immediate family and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Her very best feline friend, Wilson, died several years ago.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at noon in the Chapel of New Rosemont Cemetery, Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg (Espy). There will be no viewing.
