From Rexburg Standard Journal (Rexburg, ID) - Monday, June 18, 2018:
Gale Harlon Allen returned to his heavenly home on June 11, 2018. Gale was born February 19, 1947 in Driggs, Idaho. He was the son of Harlon Frank Allen and Thelda Moulton. He grew up on a farm near Victor and graduated from Teton High School. After high school he attended a year of college at ISU in Pocatello, then served a two year LDS Mission to the Hill Cumorah Mission. He completed his Associate Degree at Ricks College and his bachelors degree at BYU in Provo.
Gale enjoyed different jobs throughout the years. He was a tour bus driver for Yellowstone National Park--driving buses to and from the Idaho Falls Airport and around the park. He drove a cement truck and also worked as a pressman at Artco for many years. He enjoyed running farm equipment, and worked many years harvesting, sorting and inspecting potatoes. He also enjoyed his job delivering the paper and the long country drives he was able to take.
Gale had many hobbies and always had a project going on. He loved gardening, and spent hours taking care of his yard and garden. He knew the area like the back of his hand. He also loved music and had a beautiful tenor voice. He was involved in many different singing groups over the years including barbershop and church choirs. Another hobby that Gale enjoyed was reading. There was never a time that he didn't have at least one book that he was reading and telling everyone about.
Gale was married to Valerie Jean Gulley in 1981 and they together had three children. They were later divorced. He would marry two other times which would also end in divorce. Although this wasn't the ending he would have wished, these marriages helped Gale gain step-children that he considered his own. He loved all of his family and cherished the time that he was able to spend with them. He also loved the gospel and all that the church had taught him. He was a great example of a gentle kind hearted man. He will be dearly missed.
Gale is survived by his children: Cora Nelson, Heather Lara, and Jerry Allen; Grandchildren: Landon Nelson, Tyler Nelson, and Ember Perryman; Brothers: Doyle (Mary Lou) Allen of Victor, and Carl (Susan) Allen of Victor; Sisters: Leora Walker (Tom) of Raytown, MO, and Nelda (Marty) Higley of Peyton, CO; He was preceded in death by his parents, former wife, Valerie, step daughter, Stacy and his youngest brother Frank.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, at the Hibbard LDS Chapel, 2029 North 3000 West, with Bishop Todd Blanchard officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Victor Cemetery
