U.S. Congressman. Elected as a Democrat to represent Kentucky's 4th District in the United States House of Representatives, he served from 1855 to 1859. He was engaged in agricultural pursuits and real estate before he became a delegate to represent Boyle County, Kentucky at the State Constitutional Convention in 1849. He became a member of the Kentucky legislature in 1850 and was elected to the United States Congress in 1854. He declined to become a candidate for renomination in 1858 and returned to Boyle County to resume business involving real estate. He became a member of the Kentucky Senate from 1869 to 1873 and a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives in 1883. He then moved to Pennsylvania where he later died in 1887 when he was 79 years old. He was the uncle of U.S. Congressman William Clayton Anderson.
