Ellen was a homemaker, certified nurse's aide, and administrative assistant. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing, cooking, and was a lifelong Red Sox fan.
Besides her husband, she is survived by eight sons, James P. Fitzgerald Jr. and his wife, Denise, of Hopkinton, Kevin P. Fitzgerald and his wife, Suellen, of Westborough, Patrick T. Fitzgerald and his wife, Maureen, of Milton, Daniel J. Fitzgerald of Hopkinton, Paul F. Fitzgerald and his wife, Michelle, of Mendon, John T. Fitzgerald and his wife, Sandy, of Mansfield, David A. Fitzgerald and Mark J. Fitzgerald of Hopkinton; and one daughter, Kathleen M. Herlihy and her husband, Colin, of Hopkinton. She also leaves behind her five sisters, Peggy Fitzgerald of Halifax, Mary Ann Duffy of Dorchester, Ann Lacey of Georgetown, Kathy Needham of Scituate, Judy Thibeau of Marstons Mills; and three brothers, Jim Kilroy of Marshfield, Bob Kilroy of Westport, and Larry Kilroy of Warwick. She also leaves behind 18 cherished grandchildren; 37 nieces and nephews; and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Services from the Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton will be private with her family on Tuesday, June 9. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, Brookline, MA 02445, in her memory.
