Alfred was the husband of Mary I. (Eckert) Heist and the son of Israel and Sallie (Kramer) Heist.

A.K. Heist, 70, Dies;
Berks School Teacher

New Jerusalem, Sept. 1 -- Alfred K. Heist, 72, a farmer and school teacher for 50 years, died this morning at his home here. Most of his teaching posts were in Rockland Township. born in that township he was a son of the late Israel and Sallie (Kramer) Heist. He was a member of New Jerusalem Reformed Church and for many years was the superintendent of its Sunday School. He also served as an elder in the church council, and was a correspondent for The Reading EAgle many years.

Surviving are his widow, Ida (Eckert) Heist; six children: Warren of Harrisburg; Clarence, Earl and Wayne, all of New Jerusalem; Cora wife of James Schaeffer, Fleetwood, and Carrie, at home; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Pierson, of Dryville and Harvey, New Jerusalem; two sisters, Kate and Clara Heist, both of Kutztown. Services tuesday at 1"30 in New Jerusalem Church, the Rev. Earl Wolford officiating. Burial in adjoining cemetery, the Stump Funeral Home, Fleetwood, in charge.
