The news of the death on Monday morning, of the late Mrs. Sandy Aird of Athol, while not unexpected, called forth many expression of warm sympathy for a departed friend and the members of the family who survive to mourn the loss of a devoted mother.

Deceased who was 78 years of age, together with her husband, who predeceased her several years ago, for many years was a prominent and most esteemed resident of that part of Glengarry and her friends were legion.

Three sons and seven daughters survive, namely, Alex in California; John in the West; Peter in Africa; Mrs. A. A. McDougall of this place; Mrs. Thos. Munro of Saskatchewan; Mrs. Peter Munro, Maxville; Miss Jessie, now in Italy, and the Misses Lizzie and Tena at home.

The funeral took place on Wednesday at 1:30 , service being held at the house by Rev. A. Lee of St. Elmo.

Interment being made in Maxville cemetery.

On Monday morning, April 1, 1912, there passed away to her rest, Janet Fisher, relict of the late A. D. Aird. The deceased wa born at Athol, on May 9th, 1832, and was the eldest daughter of the late Alexander Fisher. She was one of the early settlers and endured many of the hardships and privations of pioneer life. She was a woman of cheerful disposition, of marked endurance and through long years of failing sight was never heard to complain, but bore her suffering with Christian grace. She was a kind neighbor and ever a friend to the poor. She leaves a large family to mourn her loss, two sons in Los Angeles, Cal.; one in South Africa; a daughter in Saskatchewan; one in Florence, Italy; two reside near Maxville, and three on the homestead, besides five sisters and one brother. The service was conducted at the home by Rev. Lee, assisted by Rev. Mr. Daley, and was largely attended. Interment took place in the Maxville cemetery. Among the floral tributes were a crown wreath from the daughters in the home, a spray from her grandson, A. P. Munroe, Ottawa, a small spray from her niece, Jennie N. Fraser of Moose Creek.
