He emigrated to OH via Canada in 1887 to Huron Ohio and stayed for twelve years both farming and working on the railroad. For part of that time he worked out of Norwalk Ohio as a section hand for the New York Central Railroad.
Granted his Naturalization papers and Citizenship on
6 November 1893.
Moved to Toledo in the spring of 1899. Because of his intense interest in politics, he was never an elected official but given the unofficial title of "the twelfth councilman " of the city of Toledo.
His wife Elizabeth ROTHERY also came from Yorkshire and they were married at Norwalk Huron on 25 Apr 1897
He retired as Shop Superintendant of the NYCRR at Airline
Junction in Toledo and died Dec 7th 1950 in Toledo
