Barbara Ann (Lenhart) Wheeler, 82, of New Haven, Indiana, formerly of Hicksville, died Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at her home. Born on August 4, 1935 in Wabash, Indiana, Barbara was the daughter of the late William and Marybelle (Brown) Lenhart.
Barb was a 1953 graduate of Hicksville High School, where she was Salutatorian of her class. On October 25, 2003, she was united in marriage to Bud Wheeler.
Barb was an administrative assistant for the Defiance County Legal Department. She started her working career at Kaduk Electric. She also worked for Dotco and Bob Luderman Associates.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Before she moved to Indiana, she was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church of Hicksville. She was a proud and faithful servant of the church for many years.
Barb was a charter and life member of the Crippled Children and Adult Society of Hicksville and served as secretary for 25 years. An avid fan of sports; she was a member of the Komet Hockey Club and was a season ticket holder for 48 years. She loved the Detroit Tigers, bowling, car racing and her dog, Harvey.
Barb is survived by her husband of 15 years, Bud Wheeler; siblings, William “Bill” (Leslie) Lenhart; nephews, Craig (Tonya), Jeff (Leah) Eiden; and brother in law, Richard Eiden. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Eiden.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 11:00 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Hicksville. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, with a prayer service at 6:30. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville.
