In 1900 she and her husband and their seven children lived on a farm they owned, mortgage free, in Leesburg Precinct, Harrison County, KY.

In 1910 she, Joseph, their nine children, and her brother Frank lived on a farm they owned, mortgage free, on Switzer Pike in Magisterial District 4 in the same county. Stella worked as a nurse for a private family, Mary and Lottie as school teachers in a county school, and Frank as a farmer on their farm.

In 1920 she and her husband and their two youngest children lived in a house they owned, mortgage free, at 312 East Pleasant Street in Cynthiana, KY. Joseph was a retired farmer.

In 1930 she and Joseph lived in a house they owned at 408 East Pleasant Street in Cynthiana. Their home was valued at $4500, and they did have a radio. He worked as a livestock trader.

In 1940 she and her husband lived in the same house, which was valued at only $3000 after the Great Depression. His occupation was shown as farmer, so perhaps he worked a little on a nearby farm.
