Aagoth E. Hansen, 89, of Willmar died Monday, January 4, 2016 at Rice Care Center in Willmar. Her graveside service will be 1:30 pm, Wednesday, January 6th, at Clover Leaf Cemetery in Willmar. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.
Aagoth was born January 21, 1926, on the family farm in Otisco Twp., Co., MN, the daughter of Selmer O. and Lydia O. (Paulson) Hanson. She attended country school through the eighth grade, and graduated from Waseca High School in the Class of 1944. After high school, she moved to Minneapolis and attended Augsburg College until 1945. In 1948, Aagoth graduated from Swedish Hospital and began her career as a Registered Nurse. She worked in Minneapolis until 1949, when she moved to Denver, CO. She moved to Willmar in 1950, where she worked as an RN at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. On May 11, 1958, Aagoth was united in marriage to Archie C. Hansen at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in Ellendale, MN. This union was blessed with a son, Michel. In 1979, she began working at Christian Nursing Center in Willmar until 1987, when she worked as a nurse at Glen Oaks Care Center in New London. Aagoth retired in February 1988.
Aagoth was baptized in February 1926, at her family home and confirmed her faith in 1938. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, where she had been active with church circle, serving as president, vice-president and secretary over the years.
She was secretary of a Registered Nurses Club and also the A.F.L. - C.I.O Area Retirees for several years.
Surviving are her niece, Audrey (and Charles) Marion; and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Archie, son, Michel, step-daughter, Terry Louise Hansen Hinrich, and two brothers.
