A Long Life Ended—Mrs. Elizabeth Millis. Died, yesterday morning, July 12th, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Shinnick, Mrs. Elizabeth C. Millis, relict of the late James Millis, of this city. The deceased had numbered nearly eighty-eight years, the date of her birth being October 1st, 1793. The place of her nativity was New York City, from which point she emigrated with her husband and family in the year 1819, and had consequently been a resident of Zanesville for sixty-two years. Mrs. Millis, we belive, was the very oldest member of the Second Street M. E. Church, and one of the few representatives of a generation almost entirely passed away. A woman of large intelligence, rare refinement of character, and a christian withal, she was in the highest sense a help-meet to her husband, a blessing to her children, and an ornament to every society in which she moved. Mrs. M., surviving her husband but ten months, will now lie down by his side, having walked with him for the unprecedented period of sixty-four wedded years. The immediate cause of her death was heat apoplexy. She passed away a few hours after the attack without suffering, and unconscious of her surroundings. Her long life work was done, and there was nothing more but to breathe out life into eternal rest. We are informed that all the daughters, four in number, are assembled at the bier of their venerable mother, the only son being in New Mexico, and unable to reach the scene. Mrs. Edith Woods Blair of Kentucky, a granddaughter of the deceased, is also present. [The Zanesville Daily Courier.]
